This week a slew of hobbies and employment possibilities for your novels supporting characters came in my mail.
Twice a year the local community college mailer arrives announcing the next semesters offering of classes. I bet your mailbox holds similar material.
In this issue, I discovered I could take a class in Pottery, Wood-burning, Welding, and even Bird Watching. Then there is Beekeeping, and a course to help me raise chickens in my backyard. (Asheville has been rezoned to allow for the raising of chickens). Weaving, Quilting, and Fair Isle Knitting are among the textile/fiber classes.
There are classes to help your proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and even Human Resource Development which includes: Working Smart, Goal Setting, and Influence and Persuasion. (Perfect for a writer—don’t you agree)? Financing Your Business, Small Business Taxes, and Marketing Your Business are classes every #writer/smallbusinessowner would benefit from.
Before you auto-toss the ‘junk’ mail, reconsider how you might creatively spin its use.
